in Nonlinear Dynamics

Please send announcements you wish to post to this site to Wolfgang Losert (wlosert@umd.edu)

(1)  The Department of Physics at the University of Maryland invites applications for a faculty position in nonlinear dynamics theory. The successful candidate would complement our department's existing interests in nonlinear dynamics, and might be expected to play a leading role in any of several directions that could be new to our group, including but not limited to: nonlinear dynamics related to statistical physics, biological physics, soft condensed matter, fluid dynamics and the dynamics of networks. Applicants with interest in experimental collaborations and interactions with associated faculty are encouraged. It is anticipated that the appointment will be at the tenure-track assistant professor level, but higher-level tenured appointments can also be considered if appropriate. We would like to fill this position by August 2006.

Applicants should send a CV, a statement of research interests and plan, and four letters of recommendation electronically in PDF format or plain text e-mail, with "Nonlinear Dynamics Theory Search" and applicants name on the subject line, to Professor Jordan Goodman, Department of Physics, at                                         phys-chair@physics.umd.edu . For best consideration, applications should be received by December 1, 2005.
