Since this web site is mainly devoted to the theoretical part of the chaos
research group we will briefly summarize the research of the experimental
groups. They have their own web pages which go into greater detail on their
research.
Dan Lathrop's Nonlinear Dynamics Lab
Current research in this lab includes:
- turbulent dissipation,
- magnetic dynamos,
- fluid dynamics and surface wave phenomena.
Wolfgang Losert's Pattern Formation and Granular Dynamics Lab
Current research in this lab includes:
- properties of soft condensed matter,
- dynamics of granular flows (avalanches of tiny glass beads in a rotating cylinder),
- pattern formation during crystal growth.
Raj Roy's Laboratory for Nonlinear Dynamics in Optical Systems
Current research on:
- identical, phase- and generalized synchronization of laser systems,
- communication with chaotic waveforms and spatio-temporal chaos,
- semiconductor laser power dropouts and opto-electronic feedback loops,
- fiber laser dynamics and synchronization,
- ultrafast pulse propagation in fibers,
- turbulence measurements.
Steven Anlage's Quantum Chaos Lab
Table-top experiments to study the effects of time-reversal symmetry
breaking on quantum chaos in a microwave analog of the Schrödinger equation.
